What should I expect on my first visit?

We will spend 2 hours together during this consult and treatment. This will include a discussion about your health, history, and goals for treatment. We'll talk about needle safety and review a confidentiality statement. Once on the treatment table, I will conduct a physical and listen to your pulses. After locating certain points on the body, needles are inserted. Subsequent treatments run about 1 hour depending upon the nature of your needs.

Will the needles hurt?

The needles are the width of a hair and solid. You might feel a slight pin prick. As acupuncturists, we move qi. When it moves, you will feel a dull ache or a spreading sensation. Some patients report following the qi through their meridians, the anatomy.  Needles can stay in for some time, upwards of an hour. Some are inserted, turned, and removed. Should you wish, there will be time for you to rest after your treatment.

What will I notice after treatment?

Acupuncture aims at creating homeostasis in the body, mind and spirit, therefore it is important for weekly visits during initial treatments. Within 4-6 weeks you will notice change, dependent upon the nature of the severity.
